Shymkent «Zoological» park is a unique ecological and educational destination where visitors can explore the fascinating world of wildlife and observe exotic animals from around the globe. It serves not only as a recreational attraction but also as an important scientific and environmental institution dedicated to biodiversity conservation and nature protection.

The history of Shymkent «Zoo» dates back to 1979, and it officially opened its doors to visitors in 1980. Today, covering an area of 54 hectares, it is one of the largest zoological parks in the region.

Initially, the zoo housed more than 75 species of animals and birds, but over the years its collection has expanded significantly. One of the zoo’s primary objectives is the conservation, breeding, and protection of rare and endangered species listed in the Red Book.

To support these efforts, Shymkent «Zoo» became a full member of the Eurasian Regional Association of Zoos and Aquariums in 2010 and actively participates in international wildlife conservation programs.

Visitors have the opportunity to observe a wide variety of rare and exotic animals while learning about their habitats, behavior, and ecological importance. Encounters with endangered species help raise awareness of the delicate balance of nature and provide valuable educational experiences for children and adults alike.
